Who are we?
The Group With No Name (or GWNN-pronounced Gwen) is a Central Texas based pansexual, social, and common interest organization that serves as a gateway organization focusing on education, advocacy, acceptance, and social interaction for the alternative sexuality and kink lifestyle. It is non-commercial, not-for-profit, and dues-free. It exists to provide a positive and dynamic environment for people to meet others with a similar social interest in bondage, domination, submission, sadism, masochism, and other related topics. Toward that end, GWNN attempts to foster community and encourage interaction through social events and functions.
Why don’t we have a name?
Originally, we started out in 1993 with just organizing dinner socials for interested people. At that time, we did not think there was sufficient interest in a full organization here in Austin. Other attempts at starting full BDSM organizations had fallen flat. Because of this, we decided not to make up a full organization, complete with a snappy name right at the outset. As it turned out, there was in fact sufficient interest, but by the time we realized that, people had grown used to us being “The Group With No Name”.
Why are we here?
We are here to have fun! The primary purpose is social, along with support and education in a social setting. To this end, we host monthly socials (munches) so people can meet and get to know one another in a comfortable setting. In addition, we host BDSM play parties for our members in the Austin, Texas area. The parties are open to all members and their guests. Note that we ask that people attend at least one munch before coming to a party. This functions as our orientation to the group, as well as a chance for new people to meet some of the others so that their first party experience is more comfortable.

What we do:
GWNN provides education, socializing and is committed to providing Austin, Texas and the surrounding areas with a Gateway community where the newest person to the most seasoned veteran of the BDSM lifestyle can find a home.
New Member Orientation
GWNN hosts a voluntary New Member Orientation for those new to GWNN and the community at large. These informative meetings are held on the fourth Saturday of the Month at The Austin Eagle:

GWNN hosts the GWNN BASH: a four day convention full of classes, meet-ups, socials, entertainment, keynote speaker, vendors, a silent auction, and two of the biggest parties of the year!

The GWNN Board meets from 3:00 PM – 4:45 PM before the munch for a Board Meeting to discuss and vote on group matters. GWNN members (or potential members) are welcome to observe the Board Meeting, but we do ask that you please do not engage the Board or converse too loudly while the Board Meeting is in session.
There is an Open Forum from 4:45 PM to 5:30 PM where members, potential members, and the community at large may ask questions, voice concerns, or offer suggestions to Board Members directly.
GWNN also hosts several member-only play parties each year. To purchase tickets and attend these member-only parties, you must show a GWNN Membership Card or be a Guest of a Member. GWNN Membership Cards may be acquired from a current Board Member at GWNN events like our Munches, Socials, and the NMO. Members of GWNN may bring up to two guests to a party. Party Guests may also request a membership card at parties.

GWNN is an open group that respects all forms of sexuality, gender and gender expressions. We are LGBTQIA+ friendly. We are BDSM Lifestyle-based but you don’t have to be kinky to attend! Just come with an open mind and a willingness to learn.

GWNN holds regular educational events and classes covering beginning and entry-level subjects.
